Five snowboarders were killed Saturday afternoon after reportedly triggering an avalanche on Colorado’s Loveland Pass, authorities said.

A sixth snowboarder was able to dig himself out and call for help. The five bodies were recovered hours after the slide, said Clear Creek County Sheriff Don Krueger, according to Fox News.

Searchers from Clear Creek and Summit counties, an alpine search-and-rescue team, and the Loveland and Arapahoe Basin ski resorts located the bodies, Sheriff Krueger told media.

The identities of the bodies were not made immediately available. The condition of the surviving snowboarder is unknown, Fox News reports.
