Two people died in a fiery three-car crash on the Woodrow Wilson Bridge south of Washington in suburban Maryland.
The crash occurred about 3 a.m. Saturday. Maryland State Police say a 2009 Dodge was traveling at a high speed and rear-ended a Chevy Cobalt. The driver of the Dodge then lost control and crashed into the back of a tractor trailer.
Police say the Dodge vehicle caught fire. The driver and a front-seat passenger could not get out. They were pronounced dead at the scene. A backseat passenger was flown to a nearby hospital.
The driver of the tractor trailer also was taken to a hospital. The driver of the Chevrolet was not injured.
Northbound lanes of Interstate 495 were closed on the bridge. They reopened after 10 a.m.
