OPINION:
It is little wonder that Maryland is losing residents while Virginia is gaining residents and business from Maryland (“Marylanders move in droves to Virginia,” Web, Tuesday).
People who take the time to study how different policies and ideologies affect the economy have known for some time that liberal policies never work. In fact, such policies inhibit a state from prospering. The truth is that the liberal policies of Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley and the Democrat-controlled legislature in Maryland are destroying our state by raising taxes and driving business out of the state - and by taxing its residents to the point of bleeding them dry.
The only recourse we have in Maryland against the tax-and-spend liberal machine has been for the people to petition our grievances against the Dream Act, homosexual marriage and the redistricting plan that is poised to oust every last Republican legislator in the state. Once the Democrats have a total monopoly in Maryland, we will surely go down in flames.
There is hope, however. November is coming and we have a choice to change our state’s direction into one of prosperity. Daniel Bongino, former Secret Service agent to President Bush and President Obama, is running for the U.S. Senate. In District 5, state Senate Minority Leader Tony O’Donnell is running to replace Steny H. Hoyer in Congress. We can stop the bleeding by voting out the tax-and-spenders.
