OPINION:
The relatively new Olympic rule that allows only two members per team to compete in gymnastics individual finals is both unfair and discriminatory.
Defending world champion Jordyn Wieber from the United States failed to make the women’s gymnastic all-around finals because of this ridiculous rule.
The best athletes should compete in the finals, not those determined by some socialistic system of so-called “fairness” among nations. This shameful new system discriminates against both the top athletes and the bigger countries.
What’s next — giving smaller countries a handicap in Olympic events?
