“Homicide no longer a top-15 killer” (Web, Jan. 11) is an example of how data are manipulated to deceive the public.

Since a child in the womb isn’t considered to be a person, no death certificate is issued when an abortion is performed, and so abortions aren’t included in the list of causes of death. Unfortunately, this is like not including the cost of food and gas in an economic study and then declaring that inflation isn’t going up.

The piece further states that heart disease and cancer together account for nearly half (1.2 million) of the 2.4 million deaths in the United States in 2010. But since approximately 1.2 million abortions have been performed every year for the past 30 years, abortion is easily the top killer.

Next Monday is the annual National March for Life on the National Mall in Washington. I urge readers to attend and help open the public’s eyes about this atrocity that is occurring in our nation.
