CAIRO (AP) - An Egyptian court has dismissed a lawsuit brought by an ultraconservative Muslim accusing a Christian tycoon of insulting Islam.

Telecom and media mogul Naguib Sawiris had angered Muslim hard-liners by relaying on his Twitter account a cartoon of Mickey Mouse in a beard and Minnie in a face veil as a parody about the growing influence of Islamists since Hosni Mubarak’s ouster.

A Cairo court on Tuesday threw out the case and also fined the plaintiff less than $10 for the court’s time over the matter.

After Mubarak’s ouster in a popular uprising last year, Sawiris launched a political party that is now part of a liberal coalition in the newly elected parliament.

After the cartoon was posted in June, he tweeted an apology and removed the post.
