ARLINGTON, TEXAS (AP) - Seattle Mariners ace Felix Hernandez has left his start against Texas in the fourth inning after being struck on the right arm by a liner off the bat of Michael Young.

Texas already had scored four runs in the inning when Young’s liner caromed off Hernandez’s pitching arm and ricocheted toward third base for a single.

The reigning AL Cy Young Award winner fell to the ground. He was attended to by a trainer, then walked to the dugout, grimacing in pain.

Seattle said Hernandez, who was making his final start of the season, had a bruised right forearm.

He was replaced by righthander Jeff Gray.
