Drugs used frequently to treat hospital patients, many of them critically ill, increasingly are difficult or impossible to find. Shortages causing the most disruption in care include:

_Sodium phosphate injection _ electrolyte (controls heart, nerve, muscle function)

_Magnesium sulfate injection _ electrolyte (controls heart, nerve, muscle function)



_Levofloxacin injection _ antibiotic

_Foscarnet injection _ antiviral drug

_Paclitaxel injection _ chemotherapy

_Doxil injection _ chemotherapy

_Prochlorperazine injection _ for nausea
