The criticism voiced by the discontented about the lavishness of Great Britain’s royal wedding is tiresome and boring.

Why do people go to movies? It’s an escape from reality. Royal weddings are bread and circus for millions of Britons and a billion or so viewers around the world. It’s like show business: glitzy and fun, and what’s more, it does no one any harm.

While Kate Middleton was not a charwoman like Cinderella, she’s about as close as you are going to get to it in someone the British monarchy allows to marry a royal. I’m not ashamed to say I watched it all and enjoyed it. It was a wonderful, if temporary, escape from the debt, deficits and economic destruction being visited upon the United States by this administration.

While Britain is trying to reverse socialism, this administration is hurtling straight toward it.
