LETTER TO THE EDITOR: U.S. should take harder line on Mideast

OPINION:

I liked the president’s speech last week on the Middle East, but he isn’t going far enough. Our country should support democracy, equality and human rights at home and abroad (“Obama sees door for U.S. influence in Middle East,” Page 1, Friday).

I would like the president to announce that from now on, our government will no longer give foreign aid to any dictatorship or nondemocratic regime. Actions speak louder than words. Our government should oppose, not appease, all dictatorships.
