They found a person with a gun on the porch of a residence. Officers approached the suspect and ordered him to drop his weapon. He refused, and gunfire was exchanged.
A Metropolitan Police officer was struck multiple times. The suspect fled and was later located under a porch in the 700 block of Crittenden Street, NE. A gun was recovered at the same location.
The suspect was arrested for assault with intent to kill while armed. The officer was transported to a local hospital and listed in stable condition. The suspect was treated and released for a minor injury.
Because he is a juvenile, the suspect’s name was being withheld.
