It is way past time to shrink government programs and cut spending to really help hardworking taxpayers. The government has demonstrated over the years that it is not efficient in running programs to help the people. Here are some examples:

Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae were created to aid homeowners. Instead, they operated with billions of dollars in deficits and contributed to the housing crisis that led to the downward spiral in the economy, causing millions to lose their homes and jobs. Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid are going broke, placing in jeopardy the livelihood and health care of millions of seniors and others. Last year, over the objections of the majority of Americans, the Obama administration passed a health care plan that was supposed to lower costs and improve the quality of care. If that law is to accomplish those worthy objectives, why has the administration granted more than 1,000 waivers, exempting many from compliance?

Now there is a push to create other programs to help improve the environment. Meanwhile, during the past two years the government has increased the budget deficit to more than $3 trillion and the debt to $14 trillion. With that kind of record, the government should immediately stop creating more programs to “help” people. We cannot afford any more help.
