NORFOLK, VA. (AP) - Wendy Larry is stepping down as women’s basketball coach at Old Dominion after 25 seasons, including a trip to the national championship game in 1997.
The school says Larry, 56, has accepted a position assisting the Office of Institutional Advancement for athletic related fundraising project and alumni events.
A former Lady Monarchs player, Larry became the head coach in 1987 and compiled a 599-203 record. She led the Lady Monarchs to the NCAA tournament 20 times, including an NCAA record 17 consecutive appearances as the Colonial Athletic Association champions from 1992-2008.
The Lady Monarchs lost to Tennessee in the 1997 national championship game.
