A 7-Eleven employee was shot and killed during a robbery Thursday morning in Fort Washington, Md., according to WRC-TV 4.

The shooting happened just before 3:30 a.m. in the 9200 block of Oxon Hill Road. Police said a second employee witnessed the murder and is cooperating with investigators.

The suspect left a trail of money behind that started in the 7-Eleven parking lot.



Police are still searching for the gunman. They said they are also checking surveillance video for leads.

There were no customers inside the store at the time, according to police. Police are only identifying the victim as a male employee; the investigation is continuing.
