HARRISON, N.J. (AP) - New York Red Bulls defender Chris Albright will be sidelined four-to-six weeks following surgery on his left knee.

The MLS team said Albright had surgery Tuesday to repair a small tear in his meniscus.

Albright will begin rehabilitation in Los Angeles before returning to New York. A 12-year MLS veteran, Albright joined the Red Bulls last season and was a finalist for the league’s comeback player of the year award.

He started and appeared in 18 matches, collecting two assists.

The Red Bulls open March 19 against Seattle.
