NEW YORK (AP) - World War II historian Carlo D’Este has won a $100,000 prize for military scholarship.

D’Este, whose books include “Decision in Normandy” and “Bitter Victory,” is this year’s winner of the Pritzker Military Library Literature Award for lifetime achievement. The Chicago-based Tawani Foundation sponsors the Pritzker and announced the award Tuesday.

Previous recipients of the prize, founded in 2007, include James M. McPherson and Rick Atkinson.
