The rivers, streams, birds, foliage and small towns of Maryland’s Eastern Shore have long been beloved by Washingtonians, making that a favored place for weekend trips, boating, fishing, crabbing and exploring the natural beauty of the area.
Easton Village, a waterfront community on the Tred Avon River, offers Washingtonians a chance to own a vacation home, a retirement home or a property for year-round living.
Easton Village includes a marina with 30 boat slips; two piers for fishing, crabbing and launching kayaks; and a 50-acre nature preserve. In addition to the Village Green — a 6-acre park with a concert pavilion - the community includes multiple squares and parks so that every home is within one block of a park.
The development has two large lakes, three miles of walking trails and plans for a clubhouse with an outdoor swimming pool and a fitness center. Plans call for a pedestrian bridge to link the community with the historic town of Easton, and residents can reach the shops and restaurants of Oxford and St. Michaels within minutes by car.
Craftstar Homes is building 250 single-family homes at Easton Village with base prices from $339,900 to $389,900. Customization and lot premiums bring the prices of some homes to more than $1,000,000. The homes have 1,830 to 2,600 square feet and can be expanded with additional bedrooms and baths, lofts, finished basements and wraparound porches. Homeowner association dues are $150 to $220 per month.
Each of the five models is available with five or six facades designed to preserve the architectural history of the Eastern Shore. The homes have brick accents, HardiPlank siding, brick stoops, brick front walks, professional landscaping and a two-car garage. Buyers can add a three-car garage. Some of the homes have attached garages, while on others, the garage is detached. A breezeway connecting the garage and home is optional.
Inside, standard features include two or three finished levels; three or four bedrooms; 2½ baths; 9-foot ceilings; ceramic tile flooring in the foyer, kitchen and baths; crown molding; high-tech wiring; a soaking tub and separate shower in the master bath; and 42-inch birch cabinets with a pantry in the kitchen. Each home has gas heat and is Energy Star certified.
The Kent model with a detached two-car garage has 2,240 finished square feet and a base price of $359,900. This home has an open floor plan with a living room at the front of the house with multiple windows and an open dining room. Adjacent to the living room is the foyer, which has a column and a coat closet. Buyers can add a wraparound porch to this model.
In the center of this home is the kitchen, which has a 7-foot center island, a walk-in pantry and a pass-through to the family room. The generously sized family room has three walls of windows and an optional fireplace. Nearby are a powder room and a door to the backyard.
Buyers have two options for the second floor. Each has a spacious master-bedroom suite with a private balcony at the front of the house. The suite has a luxury bath, a walk-in closet and a standard closet. A closet with laundry equipment is adjacent to the master suite.
Buyers can choose a floor plan with two more bedrooms and a second full bath, including a walk-in closet in one of the bedrooms. Alternatively, this floor plan can have a second bedroom, a second full bath, a media area and a computer lounge.
Both floor plans offer the option of adding vaulted ceilings in all the bedrooms, a second walk-in closet in the master suite and a fireplace in the master bedroom.
Another option on the Kent model is a finished loft level that can be used as a study or as an extra bedroom. A bath and a walk-in closet can be added to the loft.
