OLYMPIA FIELDS, ILL. (AP) - Ariya Jutanugarn of Thailand shot a 4-under 68 on Monday to lead Canadian Irene Jung by one stroke after the first round of stroke-play qualifying at the U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship.

The 15-year-old Jutanugarn and Jung were the only players to break par at on a hot and humid day at the 6,403-yard, par-72 South Course at Olympia Fields Country Club. Temperatures were in the 90s.

Katelyn Reynolds, a 15-year-old from Los Angeles, was one of four players at even par.

She came out of the gate keeping pace with Jutanugarn, opening with three consecutive birdies. However, a bogey-double bogey turn ultimately dropped her into a tie for third.
