The Occupy encampment at Freedom Plaza on Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest was granted a new permit, the National Park Service said Wednesday.
The new permit allows the October 2001/Stop the Machine protest to stay from Jan. 1 to Feb. 28, an agency spokeswoman said. Kevin Zeese and Margaret Flowers, whose names are on the original request, applied for the permit.
A counterprotest group has been granted a permit for the eastern side of the plaza from Feb. 12 to March 15.
