NEW YORK (AP) - Playwright Lisa D’Amour will have to wait a little longer for her Broadway debut.

The off-Broadway company Playwrights Horizons said Monday it will produce D’Amour’s “Detroit” next fall. The offbeat work was expected to land this fall on Broadway.

“Detroit” is set in a suburb of that city and centers on a couple who invite their new neighbors over for a barbecue only to slowly find their friendship veering out of control.

The play helped make D’Amour a 2011 Pulitzer Prize finalist. It had its world premiere last year at Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre Company starring Laurie Metcalf.

No casting has been announced for the Playwrights Horizons run.
