INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The lead singer of the country duo Sugarland says she has watched recaps of Saturday night’s deadly stage collapse with horror and “there are no words to process a moment of this magnitude and gravity.”
Strong winds estimated at between 60 and 70 mph blew over the stage at the Indiana State Fair as fans were waiting for Sugarland to perform. Indiana officials say five people have died and more than four dozen were injured.
In a statement sent to The Associated Press, singer Jennifer Nettles says she has been moved by the pain of those injured and their families. She says she’s also moved by the heroism of those who tried to help.
Nettles and Kristian Bush have sold have cancelled their Sunday show at the Iowa State Fair.
