WASHINGTON (AP) – Authorities say a fatal accident occurred early Monday morning inside the Third Street Tunnel in southwest Washington.
D.C. firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene, where several injured people were evaluated. One person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities reopened the South Capitol Street exit about 6 a.m.
