RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — It’s National Park Week, which means free admission at National Park facilities throughout Virginia.
The week is actually nine days long. It began Saturday and runs through April 24.
Virginia’s sites include Historic Jamestowne, the site of the first permanent English settlement in America and Yorktown Battlefield, the site of General Cornwallis’ surrender during the American Revolution.
Other sites across Virginia include: Appomattox Court House National Historical Park, National Memorial in McLean, Colonial National Historical Park in Yorktown, George Washington Birthplace National Monument, George Washington Memorial Parkway’s Great Falls Park in McLean, Manassas National Battlefield Park, Petersburg National Battlefield, Petersburg, Prince William Forest Park, Triangle and Shenandoah National Park.
