WASHINGTON (AP) — Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton says election wins by supporters of the conservative “tea party” movement probably wouldn’t have much impact on her diplomatic agenda.
In an interview for broadcast Sunday on ABC’s “This Week,” Mrs. Clinton said that regardless of the outcome of this year’s midterm elections, she’ll continue to make the case that the international efforts of the White House are in “furtherance of America’s interest.”
Mrs. Clinton said she finds support for national security, defense and diplomatic efforts is bipartisan.
Regardless of what someone may say when they’re running for office, Mrs. Clinton said, they “become very sobered, very quickly,” about the challenges facing the country, both internationally and domestically, once they take office.
