WASHINGTON | The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority says Phase 2 of the Dulles Metrorail project may cost $3.83 billion.

The project includes a tunnel and underground station at Dulles Airport.

Lynn Hampton, president and CEO of the Authority, says the board of directors is considering alternative station locations that could save up to $640 million.

Phase 1 of the project, with a cost of $2.7 billion, is under way and is scheduled to be completed in 2013.
