OPINION:
I read with astonishment the Wednesday letter to the editor by Ray Gordon (“Israel, not Iran, is the nation at fault”) claiming that a previous letter to the editor “could not have been further from the truth” in its statement that Israel is a buffer against the Iranian threat (“Israel a buffer against Iranian insanity,” Oct. 1).
Mr. Gordon’s claim that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad - who has publicly threatened on several occasions to wipe Israel off the map - “is neither a madman nor a threat to Israel” is completely disconnected from reality.
The perfect example of Mr. Gordon’s confused thinking, however, is his statement that “our support of Israel and its occupation causes us to be hated by terrorists around the world.” Is Mr. Gordon suggesting that it would be preferable if we were loved by terrorists?
