Where the Middle East is concerned, we have to be able to read between the lines. The latest interesting clue lies in the Obama administration’s offer to “quash” perceived anti-Israel United Nations resolutions over the coming year if Israel comes to the bargaining table.

This seems to imply that there will be a new U.N. resolution backed by economic sanctions that the U.S. won’t quash if Israel remains bellicose and intransigent. President Obama is using a very nice carrot and a very big stick to persuade Israel to do what needs to be done: Trade land for peace.
