ASHBURN, Va. | Mike Shanahan is letting the public see more of the Washington Redskins during training camp this year. The Redskins announced a training camp schedule Tuesday that has 15 practices open to the public, a substantial increase from the limited number of open sessions under coaches Joe Gibbs and Jim Zorn. Shanahan’s first training camp practice as Redskins coach takes place on the afternoon of July 29. Fan appreciation day is scheduled for Aug. 7. Training camp ends on Aug. 19. The Redskins will again be holding camp at their year-round complex in the outer suburbs of Washington. Shanahan had said he liked the idea of going away for camp, but cited the team’s top-notch facilities and huge fan support as reasons to stay.
