Has anyone else noticed that Washington politicians name their bills the same way the rulers make up slogans in George Orwell’s “1984”?

The DISCLOSE Act - which harasses critics of candidates while exempting unions and others who have cut deals - purportedly stands for Democracy Is Strengthened by Casting Light on Spending. But, as has been remarked, it might as well stand for Democratic Incumbents Seeking to Contain Losses by Outlawing Speech in Elections.”

What’s democratic about a regime that trashes the First Amendment and imposes censorship?
