BOSTON | Hockey Hall of Famer Cam Neely is the new president of the Boston Bruins. The team’s former star forward was promoted from his position as Bruins vice president on Wednesday. Neely fills a role that had been vacant since Harry Sinden stepped down in 2006 after 17 years as president. As a high-scoring, hard-hitting right wing, Neely spent the last 10 years of his career with the Bruins after being traded by the Vancouver Canucks where he spent his first three seasons. He had 395 goals and 299 assists in 726 regular-season games. With the Bruins, he had 344 goals and 246 assists in 525 games. The 45-year-old Neely was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2005.
