WASHINGTON (AP) — A William & Mary Law School student was struck and killed by an orange line Metro train at the Minnesota Avenue station early Sunday.
A press release posted on the William & Mary website identified the victim as Joseph Doyle, a rising third-year law student from Oklahoma.
Metro spokesman Steven Taubenkibel confirmed that a passenger was killed at 3 a.m. by a New Carrollton-bound train leaving the station July 4.
Metro transit police have determined in a preliminary investigation that no foul play is apparent.
Taubenkibel said the man likely fell accidentally onto the tracks and was not there intentionally.
