THE PRODUCT: The Infocast Internet media display ($170) is made by Insignia, a brand carried by consumer electronics chain Best Buy Co. It uses technology from Chumby Industries.
THE FEATURES: The Infocast is a touch-screen-enabled gadget that can show pictures and videos and play music. It can download applications via Wi-Fi, too.
THE VERDICT: The Infocast’s screen is its biggest flaw _ it’s not that sharp or sensitive to touch. Videos don’t look that good on it, though high-quality photos look decent. The device works best as a simple digital frame or Internet radio player.
