WASHINGTON (AP) — Metro says transit police are investigating a reported sexual assault by a MetroAccess driver.
Officials say the transit police department received the report on Monday. They say a customer claims that a MetroAccess driver sexually assaulted her on Thursday in Montgomery County, after he picked her up at an adult day care center and before he dropped her off at home.
Metro says the driver, who is not an employee of the transit agency, has been suspended. He works for a subcontractor that is required to conduct criminal background checks.
Transit police have issued a warrant for the driver’s arrest, charging him with one count of second-degree rape and two counts of second-degree sexual offense. Metro spokeswoman Angela Gates said Tuesday police were searching for the man.
