ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) — A judge has ordered a mental evaluation for an Arlington man charged with making threats on Facebook to blow up the Washington-area Metro system.

Awais Younis was arrested last week on charges of communicating threats across state lines.

A court affidavit states that Mr. Younis told an acquaintance on Facebook that he could use a pipe bomb to produce casualties on the Metro system and in D.C.’s Georgetown neighborhood. The acquaintance alerted the FBI.

Mr. Younis also made threats online against the tipster.

On Tuesday, a magistrate ordered Mr. Younis held pending a mental evaluation.

The arrest first was reported Sunday by the Washington Examiner.
