Sen. Joseph Lieberman, Connecticut independent, has been a strong advocate for our national defense and for the defense of Israel. For this and other legislative work, we owe him much.

Nevertheless, Mr. Lieberman is now leading the effort to repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” While Mr. Lieberman is well known as a Jew, it should be clear that Judaism’s holy book, the Torah, presents an unequivocal position in opposition to men engaging in homosexual activity, whether one is Jewish or not. For those of us who are Torah-observant, we want our Christian, Muslim and secular friends to be clear: On this issue, Mr. Lieberman’s position is not supported by our faith.
