HIGHER EARNINGS: Time Warner Cable Inc. reported net income of $342 million, or 95 cents per share, in the second quarter. That’s 8 percent higher than the $316 million, or 89 cents per share, a year earlier.
BEYOND BASIC: Although the company lost basic video subscribers in the seasonally slower quarter, it saw growth in digital cable customers and gained from cable rate hikes.
ADVERTISING: Revenue jumped, driven in part by a rebound in automotive ads.
