PHOENIX | Washington’s Ivan Rodriguez has become the fifth catcher to hit 300 homers. Rodriguez hit a solo shot to left off Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Rodrigo Lopez in the second inning Monday night to reach the milestone. He joins Mike Piazza (396), Carlton Fisk (351), Johnny Bench (327) and Yogi Berra (306) as the only catchers to reach the mark. It was Rodriguez’s second homer of the season and the 307th of his career. He is baseball’s career leader in games, runs, hits, doubles and extra-base hits by a catcher.
