OPINION:
A country is more than a place to live. It has customs, traditions and values that distinguish it and define it from other nations. If I thought monarchy abhorrent, for example, I would not seek British citizenship.
In every country were Muslims become a substantial population, they seek to impose their laws and customs. In parts of Denmark, for example, they hand down Shariah rulings, bypassing the country’s laws. If they wish to live in a country where women are second-class citizens and religious law governs all facets of daily life, let them go to one of 59 Muslim countries. They should not expect to be able to come to the United States and change the way we live, as they have been allowed to do in European countries where they have substantial populations.
The proposed Ground Zero mosque doubtless will be bankrolled by foreign funds with dubious ties to terror groups. This is clearly an attempt by a foreign power to subvert our way of life.
