THE THREAT: India’s Home Ministry says it will block BlackBerry corporate e-mail and messaging services unless the device’s manufacturer makes data easily available to its intelligence and law enforcement agencies. The deadline is Aug. 31.

THE RESPONSE: BlackBerry maker Research in Motion Ltd. says it won’t compromise on the secure nature of its corporate services and won’t give any country “special deals.”
