Every little bit helps, as the saying goes. That’s the basic idea behind Upromise, a group that a decade ago partnered with dozens of companies to enable consumers to save a few dollars toward college while making everyday purchases.
Upromise (www. Upromise.com) has 10 million members nationwide who have earned about $500 million in rewards.
Participating companies range from banks to florists and grocery stores to travel sites. These partners give up to 25 percent in contributions back to the buyer at the time of purchase. More commonly, though, the contribution is somewhere between 1 percent and 5 percent.
The site also offers daily coupons and other deals.
