The Maryland Terrapins received an at-large bid to the 2009 NCAA basketball tournament Sunday.
As the seventh seed in the West region, they will face 10th-seeded California in the first round of the tournament in Kansas City, Mo.
The Terps (20-13) lost to Duke, 67-61, in the ACC semifinals Saturday.
American University received an automatic bid with their win against Holy Cross, 73-57, in the Patriot League championship game Friday. The 14-seeded Eagles (24-7) will face Villanova in the East region in Philadelphia.
