TWT FIVE BEST WIMBLEDON MATCHES OF THE PAST 10 YEARS
1. Roger Federer vs. Rafael Nadal, 2008 men’s final — Probably the best match ever played, with the top seeds battling until twilight. Nadal won his first Wimbledon title when he topped Federer 9-7 in the fifth set.
2. Venus Williams vs. Lindsay Davenport, 2005 women’s final — Williams eked out a second-set tiebreaker and hung on to win 9-7 in the third set of one of the longest women’s matches in Wimbledon history.
3. Serena Williams vs. Elena Dementieva, 2009 women’s semifinal — Tremendous shotmaking and intensity throughout. Williams saved a match point to prevail in three sets.
4. Patrick Rafter vs. Andre Agassi, 2000 men’s semifinals — A show of contrasting styles. Rafter’s serve-and-volley game topped Agassi’s sublime baseline play in a five-set thriller.
5. Goran Ivanisevic vs. Patrick Rafter, 2001 men’s final — Ivanisevic, a Wimbledon runner-up three times, pulled out a thriller, winning 9-7 in the fifth set of a match that stretched to Monday because of rain.
