SEEN AND HEARD AT PNC PARK
The Pirates’ sparkling ballpark has so much going for it. It’s understated yet spectacular, and it invokes a sense of history and classiness.
What, then, was the home team doing last night wearing vomit-inducing red jerseys? The Pirates have trotted out these alternate uniforms this season, with red sleeveless tops over black T-shirts with white pants. It’s hideous, and it breaks with tradition. This city’s sports teams have long been identified by their common color schemes: black and gold. How does red fit into that?
OVERHEARD
“I think a lot of us forget that this kid is just learning how to play the game up here. He’s very talented with a great makeup. But he’s still 22 years old. He’ll still make the last out at third base like he did the other day. He’s still learning how to play the game.”
