How did you get started in real estate? After a successful 21-year career with American Express, I wanted to move into a role closer to home where I was able to utilize my sales, relationship management and customer service skills. Real estate was the perfect fit.

What is your area of specialty? Northern Virginia area

Highest-priced home sold: $1,500,000

Most memorable house: A wonderful historic home in Waterford, Va. It has always been one of my favorite properties in the area. It has a 1790s Quaker origin and an 1830s addition, wonderful hardwood and slate floors, enormous charm and a fabulous bank barn with five stalls and an artist’s studio, all on 30 acres. It was a joy to represent.

Worst experience: When my husband and I had found our dream home, an 1880s farmhouse in northern Loudoun County, we used a great RE/MAX agent to purchase the house but decided to sell our home in Leesburg ourselves as a “for sale by owner.” It was before I had even thought about getting my real estate license. It was truly difficult to remove myself emotionally when selling my home. It was a very stressful time, and if it wasn’t for the agent representing the purchasers, I’m not sure we would have known what all to do to get the transaction closed. Knowing what I know now, as a licensed agent, I would never buy or sell without a professional.
