New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman scaled down the outside of one of Stamford's tallest buildings Friday morning, Dec. 3, 2010, but he wasn't going too far out on a limb in discussing contract talks with star players. He said the Yankees hope to sign shortstop Jeter to a new contract, noting both sides are working hard to try to find common ground. He said the team wants to keep Jeter and reliever Mariano Rivera. Cashman said pitcher Andy Pettitte told him at the end of the season he was leaning toward retirement. (AP Photo/Gene J. Puskar, File)
