TAR-21 (Tavor) is an Israeli bullpup assault rifle chambered for 5.56×45mm NATO ammunition with a selective fire system, selecting between semi-automatic mode and full automatic fire mode. Built around a long-stroke piston system (as found in the M1 Garand and AK-47), the Tavor was designed to maximize reliability, durability, and ease of maintenance, particularly under adverse or battlefield conditions.

A handful of retired Marines – all in the late 90s or over 100 — joined Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Japan’s Prime Minister Takeru Ishida on Saturday to mark the anniversary of one of the bloodiest battles of World War II in the Pacific that ended 80 years ago this week.
