Spc. Chris Klein, 30, left, Spc. Dustin Richey, 28, Spc. Codey Roberts, 22, Spc. Tony Siegenthaler, 25, Sgt. Sherwin Palencia, 32, Spc. Tony Siegenthaler, 25, Spc. Bruce Young, 30, and Spc. Codey Roberts, 22, of Blackwatch Company, 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry, 5th Stryker Brigade Combat Team smoke cigarettes and talk before thier unit moved by convoy from Forward Operating Base Ramrod, several miles down the "Death Highway", (Highway 1) to Combat Outpost Rath, in the Maywan District, of Kandahar Province, Afghanistan,Tuesday, October 27, 2009. The unit already had three soldiers killed in action,  along with two civil affairs members attached to the unit, since they arrived at their outpost, September 13, 2009. They also had lost three of their four Stryker vehicles to Improvised Explosive Devices ( IEDs ). Other members of the unit have been wounded severely, with injuries ranging from paralysis to loss of limbs.
