A vehicle from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner leaves the apartment complex of 56-year-old Officer Johnny Jones. Officer Jones, a member of MPD, was found dead in his apartment in the 2600 block Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue in Southeast on Saturday, April 19. The cause of his death is not known. A handful of retired Marines – all in the late 90s or over 100 — joined Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Japan’s Prime Minister Takeru Ishida on Saturday to mark the anniversary of one of the bloodiest battles of World War II in the Pacific that ended 80 years ago this week.
