Northern Maine - Moose - Maine has one of the largest Moose populations in the lower 48 states, providing a wonderful opportunity to bag a once in a lifetime trophy bull. From Maine.gov: According to state wildlife biologists, In 2014 Maine's moose population is estimated at 60-70,000. For the 2014 season, the "traditional" Wildlife Management Districts further in the north had an overall success rate of 67%. Moose may be hunted with rifle, shotgun, handgun, muzzleloader, bow and arrow or crossbow. Because of the ever increasing population, Maine has increased the season to three weeks: The last week of September, the second week of October and the first week of November.
