Hampton Park (Charleston, SC) - Hampton Park is located on the peninsular Charleston, South Carolina, and remains the largest park on the peninsula. Historically, Hampton Park began as a plantation, and had stints over the years as a race course and cemetery. The park is recognized for its beautiful sights, and is also popular for runners, joggers, and cyclists, who use the one-mile perimeter road for exercise.

A handful of retired Marines – all in the late 90s or over 100 — joined Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Japan’s Prime Minister Takeru Ishida on Saturday to mark the anniversary of one of the bloodiest battles of World War II in the Pacific that ended 80 years ago this week.
